So many things have happened in the past few months… It’s funny how life flies by, but when you sit back and reflect, you notice how much has changed. I have only been back from Newport since January… And since then I have lined up a job beginning August 15th - December working with Volcanoes National Park doing Hawksbill sea turtle monitoring. I’ll be hiking out to remote beaches doing nighttime beach walks looking for turtle and hatchlings, collecting data on the adults, protecting the hatchlings from predators, and ensuring that each one makes it to the ocean safely. During the day we will be doing early morning beach walks then spending the day relaxing, snorkeling…. Whatever you do when you kick it at the beach. I’ll be working 6 days on, 3 days off, which during those times I’ll be exploring the island, hopefully visiting my grandma Tutu, and family friends I met during my last visit to the island.

Now I’ve really started to think about all the gear I need I prepare, figure out how much money I’ll need to save up, and begin training for the hikes we’ll be doing… Sometimes 12 miles one way, and mini hikes throughout the trip, running on little sleep at times. I want to be as prepared as I possibly can be for what’s to come, and I’d like to push myself to work towards something FOR ME :) I think it will be a really fun thing to keep me busy this summer (besides working at Laughing Planet and volunteering with ODFW)…

Work has been going great. I love all of my coworkers, and I’ll miss them so much when I leave! I’m glad I came back… Its been fun :)

I can’t believe I graduate in 5 weeks!! This is such an exciting time, probably THE most exciting time of my life, and I’m reminding myself to sit back and enjoy it, don’t rush it… Cuz these important moments don’t come around often. I am so ready to leave this chapter behind and explore uncharted territory. I’m ready for some adventure :D
